ThreadLens exists because product reviews on the open web are mostly sponsored, and the honest ones are buried in Reddit threads that take an hour to read. We read those threads so you don't have to, and show you which products the community actually agrees on.
When you search for a category, ThreadLens looks for recent Reddit threads where people ask for and give recommendations, optionally limited to subreddits you choose. It reads the original posts and the top-voted comments, identifies the specific products people name, and counts how often and how strongly each one is recommended. A language model then writes the summary and the pros and cons, using only what the threads said. Every result links to the threads it was built from so you can check.
Live results are a snapshot of a limited sample of discussion. They are good at surfacing consensus and terrible at spotting a product that came out last week. They can also be wrong; read the threads before spending real money.
Guides cover categories where Reddit's advice has barely changed for years: chef's knives, cast iron, headphones, safety razors. They are written and maintained by hand from that long-running consensus rather than generated from a single search, and each one links to a live search if you want this week's threads. Each guide shows the date it was last updated.
The score out of 5 is a consensus score. It reflects how consistently and how enthusiastically a product is recommended across the threads we read, weighted towards upvoted comments. It is not a measurement of the product, not an average of reviews, and not an endorsement by ThreadLens. Two products with the same score are roughly equally well regarded by the community; a product with no score didn't come up enough to judge.
ThreadLens is funded by affiliate links. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases, and some links to other retailers may also pay a commission. This never influences which products appear or how they are ranked: rankings come from the threads, and the links are added afterwards.
